Safety

Intro to Arboriculture Safety (TCIA): Introduction to Arboriculture Safety is a FREE certificate course offered by Tree Care Industry Association for individuals exploring, or new to, a career in arboriculture. Upon completion of the course, you will be issued a certificate that can be shared with employers during your job search.

FREE Tree Care Academy Workshops (TCIA): TCIA is offering FREE half and full-day virtual workshops to further employee training and education. These workshops are funded by the Susan Harwood Grant program OSHA.

Z133 Video Safety Course (ISA): This video-based training will take you through six sessions where you’ll learn about the most common hazards that can impact safety when completing arboricultural tasks and operating, storing, and inspecting machinery.

A300 Pruning Course On-Line (TCIA)

Introduction to Urban Forestry (ISA): Identify the costs and benefits of a sustainable urban forest. Learn the critical components of an urban forest management plan and how inventories are used in urban forest management.

Apprenticeships

Arborist Apprenticeship Training Portal (TCIA): Apprenticeship is a nationally recognized training and education program in which an individual completes a combination of on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and professional development to earn a Certificate of Completion in Apprenticeship, awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor. The mission of the arborist apprenticeship is to connect motivated workers with experts in the tree care industry; to provide comprehensive training to advance skills and earn credentials; and to build a trusted workforce of professional arborists.

Landscape Management Apprenticeship Program (NALP): The apprenticeship program focuses on the skills needed by a landscape technician in maintenance, installation, and irrigation.

Credentials

Certified Landscape Practitioner (NALP): Accredited Degree Program: The National Association of Landscape Professionals Accredited Degree Program is the only nationally recognized endorsement offered to colleges with landscape/horticulture curricula that meet or exceed industry standards for a model curriculum.

Certified Arborist (ISA): Pursuing an ISA Credential is a worthy goal that will help you advance your career in the arboriculture industry. The first step toward becoming ISA Credentialed is to decide which credential is right for you. To mirror our diverse population of arborists, ISA offers certification and qualifications that are each founded on different eligibilities and require the successful completion of separate, independent exams.

Certified TreeCare Safety Professional (TCIA): TCIA’s Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) program is the only individual safety credentialing program in the industry and is designed to address several of the safety challenges that tree care companies face
